Goth- The base of all dark stereotypes, a more heavy subculture. Heavily seen in the mid 80’s but still carries out to this day. They are the main roots of stereotypes such as pastel goths, emos ect. They dress in mostly black and have a very creative way of dressing. This is considered offensive but some people label them as satanic, dark, evil, and tough. Even so, those are the traits they are most often discribed by people who do not understand the culture or are focusing on the area that does have those traits. People often confuse emo and goth, but goth is much more darker and rough and less emotional. (not saying they don’t have emotions, just described not as emotional as emos, hense the emo in emotional, it really depends on the person) They listen to deathcre mostly, but music taste really depends on the person.
emo- A sterotypical emo is a emo who cuts his/her self and shows off, listens to “screamo” and is a much more emotional and softer than goth. Those are the main roots, but nowadays more opposed to what a scene is. It originated around the “myspace days.” And was a quickly faded out genre, many people with the traits still remain. Emos mostly have had a hard life, and turn to the genre for understanding and to fit in. Emos “tend to cut themselves.” because of that. Emos who “don’t cut themselves.” Are more just plain instrested in the look. There music normally revolves around post-hardcore, deathcore, and rock. The whole conception of emos cutting, is mostly fake because a pereson who looks emo could be way happier that a preppy person.
Scene- “Random” and “bright” people that seem to come off as a emoish poser. They mostly think fake diagnosis with real medical problems are cool, Which resulted in the “Emo.” Wanna be in scenes. Not all scenes are like this, but I refer to them as “brightly colored emos.” They constantly dye their hair bright colors and result to being random, and shouting out random stuff.
